Africa's coastline, ports, rivers and oceans carry the trade, food, energy and livelihoods of a whole continent. Keeping them safe, secure and healthy is a shared responsibility, and it is the reason AMSSA exists.
AMSSA provides administrative and technical support to African nations. We work with governments, navies and coast guards, port authorities, regional bodies, seafarers and industry partners. Our aim is to reduce the risk of accidents at sea, protect lives, prevent marine pollution and strengthen maritime security, in line with the African Union's 2050 Africa's Integrated Maritime Strategy.
We believe no nation should face the challenges of the sea alone. By sharing knowledge, building capacity and coordinating information across borders, AMSSA helps member states act with confidence and consistency. We also support the blue economy, so that safer seas can bring investment, jobs and opportunity to coastal and inland communities.
